Become a volunteer!

There's something for everyone! In most cases, volunteering does not require any special skills, meaning that everyone can volunteer. Sometimes there are also opportunities where volunteers can use their special skills. New volunteers are always provided with orientation and, if necessary, training.
The more demanding activities that require training include provision of first aid and acting as a crisis support person or a support person for children and young people. The organization looking for volunteers is responsible for providing training. Volunteering opportunity advertisements published on Vapaaehtoistyö.fi state whether the role requires training and how long the training is. Keep in mind that attending training is always an opportunity to gain new skills, and you can even add it to your résumé!
Some volunteer activities are one-off gigs that volunteers participate in just once. There are also activities where long-term commitment from the volunteers is preferred, such as providing support to a young person. The volunteering opportunity advertisement will state if long-term commitment is required. The provider of the volunteer activity will also explain if there are any accessibility requirements, such as physical barriers or language skills.
